Crystal Server - Possible to modify report without having to set password each time?

Using Crystal Server 2011.  Experienced with Crystal Reports; noob when it comes to the Server product though.  Every time I modify a report that resides on the server, the password in Database Configuration gets cleared out.  Is there a way around this?  I ask because I edit the report in Crystal, and it's rather cumbersome to have to log on to the CMC and edit the properties of each report that I happen to be working with.

Thanks!

Zac,

Are you speaking of DB credentials while in the designer, or after you have saved it back to the 'Server'? Just in case....There is an option called refresh options while on Crystal Server that says do not refresh Database login everytime you update the report. That is probably not what you are thinking of but just in case.

DB credentials after I have saved it back to the server.

Where might I find this setting that you're referring to?  I'm poking around in CMC but haven't found anything that resembles what you mention yet.  I'm assuming it's a global setting and not a per report setting.

Find the report in the CMC and right click the name of the report and you will see refresh options. Click that and then you should see a list of 5-8 properties you can have update when the object is updated. Hope that Helps

Exactly what I needed!  Thank you so much!!

Know of any way to make that the default setting?  🙂

Even if not, you just saved me from a lot of tedious, unnecessary work.

No I dont but if If it exists I will find it in the near future, and I will update you.

FYI if you do change the DataSource it will wipe the password since it is a different Source, but otherwise it will stick.

Hi Zac,

you can log to Enterprise in crystal reports..

View-->repository explorer-->click login --> enter necessary login info.

you will be connected to Enterprise  and for there you can locate your report and do necessary changes in report and click save it will automatically get save in enterprise and will not ask for password to reset again.

Unfortunately, that didn't work for me.  Even after opening the report via the Repository Explorer, after saving, the Database Configuration password is cleared from the report's properties, and I have to add it back via the CMC.  Thanks for the assistance though.

Hi Zac,

Unfortunately, that's how it works. Everytime you Edit a report and save it back to the Enterprise, you're required to save the Database Config from CMC.
