how to create personel no in personel selection while using cat2?

i want to configure CATS application in sap PS when i execute CAT2 for time booking but not able to do due to below error

Hi Aryan,

Please note that you cannot go ahead with time booking through CATS just by creating a personnel number. You also need to have the basic infotypes in place i.e. a mini HR master should be there in place. Without this you wont be able to do any time booking through CATS.

Apart from this you also need to define the data entry profile that will be used to enter the times using CATS.

I would suggest you to understand the basic prerequisites to do timesheet bookings. Tushar has pointed you to a good link. Refer that and come back.

These guys are right.  To use CATS (which is part of HR) you will need some minimum HR config.

If you cannot do this then you cannot use CATS and you should enter confirmations directly in PS.

If the client's requirement is to use time sheets then you will need HR help.

To use CATS you will have to have at least the HR personnel mini-master.  It is a minimal personnel record which will give you a Personnel Number.

To get charges from CATS to PS you will also have to CAT transfer using CATA.

PA30 creates and maintains HR personnel records.

There is no need to implement the entire HR module just to make a CATS entry. You just need to have an HR mini master in place.

I agree with Gokul. There is no need to HR module just for making CATS entry.

To be able to use the CATS, you must have following which has been already discussed above.

• An HR mini master (personnel number and personal data for the employees whose times are recorded)
• A data entry profile for recording employee time data
• The necessary authorizations for working with the Cross-Application Time Sheet.

If you are not able to maintain PA30, this may be due to missing authorization which you can check further with security team.

i have full sapnew and all roll assigned in my ID and able to create personel no. but getting below error.

The attendance/absence type 16/0800 does not exist on 07.03.2013

Hi Aryan,

Valid Att/Absence type are maintained in Config of Data entry profile ( T code : CAC1) Default values.

If you are getting error that specific Att/Absence type is not existing on specific day, then this is HR related config which you need to get it created with help of HR consultant.

Hi Aryan,

In CAT2 screen, you need to enter correct personnel number.

When any particular user wants to record time in CATS, he must have following authorizations.

1. SAP user id

2. Authorizations for time sheet transactions

3. Authroizations for personnel numbers to be processed

Users must have personnel numbers in the system before they record working time through CAT2.

Personnel number can be entered in SAP HR by maintaining infotype records ( For e.g Infotype 0001,0002,0315 ETC.)

You can do the same in t code OPS6.

Path is as mentioned below.

SPRO -> Project System -> Structures -> Operative Structures -> WBS -> Specify Persons responsible for WBS Elements

You can use this person responsible for time reporting on Network Activities created under WBS element provided this person is having Time reporting role defined as stated in my earlier reply.

Secondly, You enter the personnel numbers in SAP Human Resources by maintaining infotype records,which are available regardless of whether or not you implement HR.

This maintenance can be done in t code PA20.

Hi,

Personal number is being set up in HR master data. Besides that you have to set up time entry profiles also.

So you have to input the persoanl number as well as time entry profile both on CAT2 screen.
