Query for Selecting from Multiple Rows on the Active Form

I need to write a query to select the maximum of line totals entered on the Purchase Order form. I tried the query: SELECT MAX($[$38.21.number]). This, however, looks only into the first row on the Purchase Order form. Is there any way by which all the rows can be included in this query?
