Parallel processing of BEx queries under Webi report

Former Member

Environment - BO 4.0 SP5

We have Webi reports built on top of BEx queries (maximum 3 queries). Each of them taking more time in webi side however, in BW side queries run considerably fast. But, when the webi call happens each of them go for a serial execution.

Can we make them to run in parallel so that the performance will be improved? is there any settings available to do that.

Thanks,

Tilak

Hello Tilak,

Web Intelligence does not support the parllel execution of BEx queries.

Tilak,

My understanding is that BI 4.0 SP6 is the latest release that introduced parallel query processing. Apparently, the parallel processing feature can also be controlled on the back end. If you check the properties of the query in RSRT, make sure the option "No Parallel Processing" has been unchecked.

RSRT is a transaction code in SAP for Query Monitoring and other maintenance of query settings and parameters.

What do you need to do from the WebI side to get it to execute in parallel?  I think that even if I tell BW to execute in parallel, WebI will still send the queries serially.

Hello Tilak,

I guess there are a couple of enhancement request on this as this is a product limitation that queries are executed serially. Please take a look at the following KBA:

"1330124 - Unable to run multiple queries in parallel in Web Intelligence or Desktop Intelligence"
