Migrating reports from BO XI R3.1 to BO XI R2

Hey Guys,

I tried to import few files from a folder present in R3 to R2. I coud do this by import wizard.

I Selected source as BO XI R3

and Destination: i had only 2 options. 1: BOXI R3 and BIAR file.

I selected destination as BIAR and succeeded in exporting 1 folder(had 8 reports) and respective universes and connection.

But the catch is when i try to import using BIAR file from R2 import wizard, the folder which i selected was not imported (along with the reports in the folder).

Whereas the universes and connection related to those reports were getting imported.

Questions:

What is the solution for this issue? I want all the reports and the corresponding universes and connections to be exported into R2.

Has anybody come across this scenario.

Please help.

My apology if this is not the place for this post to be.

Thanks

Shreyas

Hello Shreyas,

Business Objects does not support moving Business Intelligence (BI) content from a recent version of BusinessObjects Enteprise to an earlier version of the same release using BIAR files, the Import Wizard, or any other BusinessObjects Life Cycle Management (LCM) Tool. For example, reports, documents, and any other content from a BusinessObjects Enterprise XI Release 2 SP3 system cannot be moved to a BusinessObjects Enterprise XI Release 2 SP2 environment.

Please go through the following SAP article on the same:

Hi Shreyas,

Backward compatibility of products is not supported.

BOXI 3.1 is a higher version ,BOXI R2 is a lower version.

You can try and import from BOXIR2 to BOXI 3.1 ,not a problem.

But importing from BOXI 3.1 to BOXI r2 not recommended and certainly not through BOXI r2 import wizard.
