Handling Attachments - Is This Possible in PI ?

...A PI web service which passes an unbound number of attachments from the outbound to inbound side ? i.e:

1. the message which hits the outbound side contains multiple attachments.

file1.jpg

file2.doc

file3.pdf

I have never seen a web service which allows files/attachments so I'm not sure what the data structure would look like on the outbound side. I have had the term base64 encoded mentioned but not sure how this would fit into a structure.

So I suppose the first question is can an outbound structure be defined which contains slots for multiple attachments ?

On the SOAP adapter there is a "keep attachments" option. Not sure how this would fit in with the idea of the attachments actually being in the message and not as separate objects.

2. The message passes through PI and what is presented at the receiver end is:

file1.jpg

file2.doc

file3.pdf

i.e. the same file names delivered at the receiver end.

Is this possible ??

    Hi Paul,

There is something called as MTOM. However I had also tried to understand how it works earlier but did not get much.

    You can check this link:
