Hii Gaurav ,

In the Query Browser Connection check the option  "Refresh before Components are loaded " .

Or if you want you can go for on demand refresh using Refresh connection Button.

Hi Gaurav,

Q:"the problem using query browser is u dont see the data that you have linked to the excel cells"

yes you cannot see the data while mapping it to excel cells. While preview mode only you can see the data through the components.

Dasboards version 6.0.5.0 is supported for Live office

Hello Guarav,

Yes , Through query browser you will not be able to see data in excel. You have to Create some dummy data and map that to your component. Once you refresh your dashboard with query connection it will automatically reflect in your dashboard.

You can use Live Office connection with version 6.5. but then you have to create Webi reports first and then you can connect those report to Xcelsius dashboard through Live office connectivity.

Query browser is more faster than Live office but then all the calculation either you have to do at query level or at excel level.

In live office connectivity , you can make all the related change in Webi report like Cross tab , calculations or any filters if you want to apply on data and then we can directly use that report in Xcelsius .

Hi Gaurav,

U mentioned that you want to use query browser and Excel. Query Browser is used to fetch data from either Universe or Bex Query and Excel is direct Excel data. Int his scenario, Live office is not required as per my understanding.

Live office is used when you want to use any data from Web intelligence Reports or Crystal Reports 2011 or Universe Queries(which are already published to platform).

Can you clarify me exactly about your requirement.

Hi Gaurav,

Query browser is one of the quickest data connection as it directly connects to your universe.

You can do some formatting in excel say some comments or color that can highlight where data would be populated.

for query browser workflow is Dashboard->universe->database

for live office workflow is dashboard->live office->webi->universe->database. which becomes slow as compared with query browser.

Query browser is always recommended data connection.

Good thing is you can directly bind the data to the components hence removing excel out of picture

Hi Gaurav,

Live office is supported with your version.
Live office when installed should be on the same patch level as that of SAP Business objects.

You could go through the SAP note :

Hi Gaurav,

You can map some dummy data to the excel cells in order to keep the track which fields and data you have mapped to which cells and this will also help you while mapping the data mapped in excel with the chart components in dashboard.

And when data will come form a Query or universe connected through Query Browser, it will overlap the dummy data in the excel and your charts will show the current data.

When you can directly connect to a BEx query or a Universe using Query browser, then its better to use the query browser functionality. In my opinion using using Live office will be like adding another layer between your dashboard and the data.

Hope it helps...

Yes, Live office should also be supported with your Dashboard version.

But the point which I am not very clear about the version of Dashboard you have mentioned.

Are you sure it is Dasboard 6.0.5.0?

Are you working with BI4.1 beta build?

If you can share the link from which you have downloaded this version, probably I can clarify your doubt.

Thanks,

Vivek
