Hi Experts,
I just started learning GTS. While, reading materials, i understand that we will have 2 systems i.e. Feeder system and SAP GTS system. However, in SAP ECC i could see GTS configuration. If so, can anyone help me to understand why we need to have feeder system and SAP GTS when we use SAP ECC.
Regards, Sai Krishna.
Hello Sai,
Is your question is, Why do we need a SAP GTS stand alone system, when you've Global Trading
in SAP R/3(ECC)? If this is your question, here's the answer.
The SAP GTS bolt-on stand alone system provides wide range of functionalities in the areas of SAP Compliance Management, SAP Customs Management, SAP Risk Management & SAP Electronic Compliance reporting.
Most of the features/functionalities in GTS doesn't exist in core SAP R/3. With the configuration of GTS and the feeder system set up(SAP R/3/ECC), the customer can enable quite a lot of functionalities and activities on the different sectors of above mentioned areas. Remember, it's an Add-on, just like the SAP BW or CRM or SRM. Those customer who are using SD sales with Trading Nationally or Internationally use GTS heavily.
Hope this answers your question.
Thanks,
GK

Hi Sai,
Your question isn't very precise. There are two possible types of answer, depending on what you are seeing:
1. You don't have to set up GTS as a separate system. Instead, you can install it in the same instance as the ERP system, but it must be a separate Client. You would then see the GTS configuration as part of the IMG for the ERP system.
2. Even if GTS is set up as a separate system, you still have configuration work to do in the ERP system. The area of the ERP system involved with GTS functions is known as the "Plug-In".

Dave
