DTP failure in Process Chain

I have a DTP in process chain that fails with error message "Process did not report an instance -> no log, Job cancelled after system exception ERROR_MESSAGE".

I activated the transformation, DTP, removed the DTP from process chain and added it again, but the DTP does not executes through process chain.

When I execute the DTP manualy, it completes successfully. But through process chain, DTP does not execute.

    Hi RB,

is it single chain or meta chain or dependent one.

please can you explain more about your process chain design.

seems like its dependent chain. process chain was not triggered

Get into the Check mode of your chain and ensure chain is consistent. I suggest you to remove the DTP step and create the variant again for that DTP , save/Activate the chain.

Hopefully, your chain will run. Ensure you have sufficient BGD's.

This will happen when process chain got Stuck in start process, that time for another run happen to that chain you will get this error.copy the technical name of the Process Chain .go to RSPC1 check the job log of the previous run, check whether the Start process of that chain completed or still the job is in active mode if so kill the job(in SM37) of the previous run and run the process chain.

    Hi R B,

Along with the logs of the previous run also check if there is any short dump by which you can get more information.

    Thanks,

    Hi Gurus

    I am stil stuck.

I checked the execution logs: nothing unusual...

I copied the chain in case to a new one...same problem...

I traced the execution and found that in table RSBATCHHEADER for that DTP, all the occurences are in yellow status and they do not have any PC_INSTANCE number, whereas for a successful DTP, there is a PC_INSTANCE value...

I guess, that the last step is to open an OSS message...

      Hi All,

Could you please let me know whether the issue regarding the DTP failure mentioned above is resolved or not.

I have checked all the possibilities like creating a new DTP, Removing the chain from the schedule and creating a new variant etc.

Please kindly reply if anyone of you got the solution for the same. The DTP works fine when triggered manually but not when executed through process chain.

      Regards,

      Raj

    • Hi Karan

We submitted that information to SAP in our OSS note.

But we did not get any explanation on why it was working in dialog mode...So we followed their recommendation to re-transport, and it corrected the issue.

My impression is that in dialog mode, the check is less complete than in background...May be it is just checking the status in dialog mode, and in background it is checking more stuff...

      But very weird I agree
