Use R/3 DataSource for Multiple Master Data Targets

Former Member

This is probably a simple question, but I am wondering if I am missing something. I have 2 InfoObjects in BW that I want to populate with MD attributes from an R/3 DataSource.

After I use the DataSource for one InfoObject, it is not longer available for use with the 2nd InfoObject - i.e. I don't see it on the drop-down list.

Is there a preferred method to use the R/3 for 2 InfoObjects for master data attributes?

Thanks.

Hi Jerry,

One way to do this is by using the flexible update. This means that you wil be using update rules to load the master data. So your data source will be assigned to an InfoSource and from here you can create update rules for the 2 InfoObjects. Take a look at this link for more info:

Hope this helps...

Assign a datasource to a one infoobject and create another Infoobject referring to the First Infoobject,By this way you will avoid having the same data in two different master data tables...

Instead of using a single datasource for two Infoobject.

It will same some space in your BW server ?

Cheers,
