Hi,
I have below queries related to 'Project' & 'Solution'
Regards
P Kumar
Hi
A project represents an evolving situation (hence project) and not the live as is situation.
A solution represents the live as is situation
There are different kinds of projects which reflect their meaning:
Implementation project ~ for example a new business process is introduced and a new implementation project is started to document the business process
Maintenance project ~a maintenance project can be used to check out business process documentation from a solution, work on it in the maintenance project and check it back in.
To add to what Jansi said, one solution can be a big ERP SAP system which has several divisons where people would use their own "projects" to document business processes and where everything comes together in the Solution in the end to reflect the ERP as a whole
So for example
Implementation project for Finance
Implementation project for HR
Solution "ERP production" holds both in the end by importing the content into the solution through SOLMAN_DIRECTORY.
You have to think about what makes sense though in terms of using content multiple times as you will also create additional work (maintenance) when you do that.
Best regards
Tom

Thanks Jansi & Tom,
It has cleared many of my doubts.
One query do we use solution in RBPD ( Reverse Busienss Process Docuemntation) also.
My another query is, when we run RBPD second time, can we use the Solution ( created from Project after first RBPD analysis) insted of 'Analysis Project' which is the standard way of performing RBPD analysis

yes, this is posible.
Please refer http://help.sap.com/saphelp_sm71_sp08/helpdata/en/9d/f08883f0224517a663c4496de42ed0/frameset.htm
Thanks

Hi,
There are lots of way we can create the link in both of them. for example
1. In project implementation -> Once the project set to production or completed, we move the project to solution for further maintenance like editing documents by check in/check out feature.
2. One solution might get the content ( Business scenarios, Business process. steps) from more than one Project and one project get the content from any number of solutions.
3. You can link/unlik either from solman_directory ( for solution) solar01 ( for project).
Please search the help.sap, you will be getting the how to procedures.
Thanks
Jansi
