Competency mapping in Talent Management

Dear All,

Greetings.

We are on ECC 6, Eph4. Here in the client place we have a requirement to create a grade wise competency. Client has three types of competencies, i.e Core Competency, Leadership and Technical competency. Following are scenarios where in we need your suggestions / inputs

Scenario:

  1. Core competency is common for all grades but the proficiency differs from grade to grade
  2. Leadership competency varies with grade
  3. Technical competency varies with grade.

Challenge: Since creation of competency is a template based approach. How can i have "Grade wise competency" in Talent Management. Because as far my knowledge goes config in "Create Process Groupings" and "Define Process Periods and Groupings" is based on 1:1 combination.

Above being the case how can we give option for the Business to choose grade wise competency template and assess ?

Would highly appreciate your suggestions / inputs on same.

Kind regards

Venkat

Hi Venkat,

You can only have one Competency form, as you have pointed out. Usually this would be used for the senior individuals that you would use in processes such as succession planning and leadership development. For those lower in the organization then competency assessment can be combined in the performance assessment process.

Unfortunately the Competency assessment is fairly limited and this is frustrating.

Best regards,

Hi Luke,

Thank you very much for the details. But guess SAP should get this done. Because most of the customers will have gradewise competencies. That being the scenario it will  be very hard to sell competency.

Kind regards

Venkat

Hi Venkat,

I had the same problem for a european customer. It is really frustrating.... We created custom PHAP forms and used the new WD UI to display these forms. Later we integrated the forms into TMS portal role.
