change of useful life of a fixed asset

Dear Experts

I have a question on the change of useful life of a fixed asset. I will not be changing the depreciation key for the asset. The only config change will be for the same depreciation key, I just increase the useful life form 5 to 8 years).

I have checked the various posting on the changing of asset useful life but the answer is bit confusing.
