Process Chain for Delta Update

When creating a process chain for a delta upload (to perform the delta and update the InfoCube) I presume I need to ensure that the infopackage is set to an immediate run. Then the process chain itself is scheduled?

I don't know very much about process chains!

Hi Stuart,

It is okay to have the InfoPackage as immediate run. It will only be executed when the process chain is kicked off and triggers the load.

Hope this helps...

You are correct, the Process Chain itself is scheduled. Think of a Process Chain as batch job where each process in the Process Chain is a separate step.

Actually each process is itself another batch job, but the Process Chain controls the triggering of each job.

The Process Chain is scheduled from the Start Process (1st process in the chain). Double click on the Start Process and then click on the "Change Selections" button. The start time window will appear where you can maintain the start parameters.

Tip: On the start time window, press the Periodic job.

NOTE: We always trigger our Process Chains after an event because we cannot change the Start Process in our Production environment. We then create a batch job to trigger the event. This way if we need to reschedule a Process Chain, we can change the job.
