Web Authorisations

During testing - we have noticed that the authorisations created in the Bex Analyser are not being utilised when using web queries.

For example, all of the authorisations I have created using S_RS_COMP etc to restrict users to certain infoareas, cubes etc do not apply when a user opens a view in a web report..a Finance user can see and execute all of the views created in the HR area.

This does not happen when using the Bex analyser with Excel.

Am I correct in assuming that the S_RS_COMP authorisation object should apply to both Bex and web reporting?

Michael,

S_RS_COMP applies to query access - through analyze, query designer or web.

Check the users auths. It might happen that the yser has more authorizations than you think they have.

For S_RS_COMP, there is no turning on also that needs to be done like reporting auth objects - it always applies.

Hi Michael,

it seems to be an abnormal behaviour ...

Can you be more precise about the Object S_RS_COMP?

Did you setted values for QVW (Query View)?

Gianfranco - The user is restricted only to Structures/Queries and Views only in S_RS_COMP (for specified infoareas).

Hi Michael,

never seen something like this ... let me suggest to search for OSS notes (are you ok with SP? or is it an "OLD" installation?. There are several Notes about "Web Authorization" under BW-BEX* Component.

Another strategy could be creating a DUMMY User (ZTESTUSER) and to assign ONLY the authorizations that should be sufficient to execute the Queries you like. Then see if, logged as ZTESTUSER, the problem persists.

As Aneesh suggesed your users could be granted with larger authorizations!

In fact, as Aneesh said, Authorizations should always be checked. Try also to make some traces!

Good luck
