SSM 10 - Connection with BusinessObjects 4.0 sp5 fp4

We are trying to connect our Strategy Management 10 sp06 system to a BI 4.0 server, in order to create some reports based on SM data.

I wanted to ask you if this is possible?

We have tried configuring the systems just like in the Configuration Help document, and still we are receiving an error when trying to make an Universe connection.

Also, in the SAP BusinessObjects menu the Strategy Management 7.5 appears instead of Strategy Management 10.0

We are using up-to-date Business Objects 4.0 and also SSM10 sp6.

Can you please give us a hint? Have you ever connected SSM10 to WebIntelligence?

Hi Andreea,

The user name used in the universe connection needs to be an UME/LDAP/R3 user that has access to Strategy Management, e.g., pipadmin.

Does your user Administrator has access to Strategy Management?

Also note that you will need to specify the IP address and port of your Netweaver AS in the system field, e.g., 12.345.678.90:50000

I am trying to follow the same thing but i am still facing the same error that you showed in print screen at top. Did you do the regedit step as it optional if we are using SSM10 SP6

Hello,

have you copied the ODBO Provider folder from the Strategy Management folder, on the machine where the BI Server is running? Are you running BI 4.0?

Have you ran the *.reg file from the folder, with the BI server services off? (in the documentation is says the MDAS server, but just to be sure, try to turn the whole SIA server off)

Try to see if there's a connection problem: open Command prompt on the BI server and ping the strategy management server!

in the universe the ip should be server_ip:50000 and the username/pass should be one with full rights on SSM.

YES i have copied and yes we are running BI 4

YES I have run by SIA off and switching on after that

If you try to follow the instructions in sbop_sm_config_server_help.pdf, you may not be able to understand the instructions on the regedit items as it may not correlate to the BOBJ 12 (XIR2) instance it is referring to.

SAP need to provide a document that is related to XIR2/3, BI4 and 4.1...Or provide an executable that can be run so we don't have to manually edit the registry...Come on guys (SAP), make it easier for us to configure please...

Les, we managed to get this working on BOE 4.0 SP02 and SSM 10.0 SP08. No need to mess with the regedit manually. If I remember correctly, there's a .bat file that does this for you.

Hi,

Tanks to the advice above, I can create a connection and select a cube from Universe. However in the next step when Designer tries to generate a universe I get the error "Connection error" with details "Not yet implemented".

Any advice on this error.
