Delta between DSO and cube in BW on HANA

Hi

We are running BW on HANA (7.30 SP09) and have a question regarding delta loading from a DSO to a cube.

We are running full load to the DSO with overwrite (for a good reason). Now our problem is the following:

- Load 1: Assume we load 100 records (DSO + cube are empty). 100 records are added to the DSO (assuming unique keys) and passed on to the cube

- Load 2: 1 record is added, so we load 101 records to the DSO

-> BW not on HANA: The change log table will keep track that only 1 records has changed/been added since the first load. Therefore only 1 records is passed on to the cube in the delta DTP

-> BW on HANA: All 101 records are passed to the cube in the 2nd load through the delta DTP. However, it does not duplicate the key figures as you normally would expect. Instead it adds the 100 records with 0 in the key figures. Thefore the result is correct and reconsilable with the DSO.

However, this generates an obscene amount of records. I can mend this issue by running a cube compression but I want to check whether this is indeed the intended behaviour?

I have tried to investigate the issue and have established that the change log no longer is a physical table but a database view. However, I have been able fully to appreciate the delta setup from a DSO.

Any help appreciated.

Cheers

/Karsten

Hi Karsten,

Have you had a look at the SAP Note 1762935. The note explains why this is happening during the DSO Activation and how you can stop that from happening.

Thanks,

Hi Anooj

Thank you for the reply.

I have consulted the note but I cannot get it to work.

In the note it says: Use maintenance view V_RSODSOIMOSET and select the "Compress Chge.Log" checkbox to use the "old" way.

Now, going into this view, I don't have the checkbox in mention. I have one called "No MCR During Act.", which by default is blank.

I have tried to set it (both for the "_DEFAULT" value and for the DSO in question) but it does not seem to change anything. I have not modified the access type (it is specified as "Standard Access").

Any ideas?

Regards,

Karsten

Hi Karsten,

Are you sure you don't see the Compress Chge.Log Checkbox? I am on BW 7.31 SP6 (equivalent of BW 7.3 SP9) and I am able to see it:

As the note mentions as a pre-requisite - Are you on HANA Revision 38? If so, can you also see if you can run the report RSODSO_ENBL_CL_COMPRESSION (SE38) as mentioned in the report?

Thanks,

Anooj
