Bex 7.x Analyzer - Variables technical name

Good morning,

I have the following situation : When I logon to analyzer and  execute a query , the variables' screen appears correctly (with variable description). When I press the "Change Valiable values" , to change some values , the variable screen appears with the technical names of the variables. I have to logoff and logon again in order to make the descriptions appear again.

I have BI Addon 7.x (based on 7.20) - Support Package 9 - Patch 1.

More information in case someone faced a similal problem :

Query maintained in language EN. Query executed in language EN. When first logon, everything is ok. When refresh, ALL descriptions (for characteristics or keyfigures, for which I don't use standard texts), disappear.

Hi Dina,

If you have a variable text maintained in a particular language then it should appear in the selection screen, no matter how many times you refresh the variables. But if the text is not maintained then it should show the technical name.

Can you explain

Can you give an example for the above statement.

Is it a particular type of variable or all variables. For currency variables there is a note. You can search for similar notes as well. See the below discussion.

Hi Sujit,

Let me give you an example :

1. I have created a column , with description "Interest" (not standard text), and a selection variable with description "Select Company code"  (both in language EN)

2. When I run the query in analyzer (with language EN), both texs are not shown (instead it shows the technical names). If I logoff and logon again in analyzer, it works ok. If I refresh I have the same problem. I'm in 7.3 BW

Hi Dina,

Do you also face the problem in Web Analyzer ?

I guess its a problem with your GUI. With 7.3 BW you need to upgrade to latest GUI to be able to overcome few errors in Bex Analyzer. Raise it with SAP otherwise.

just saw your post, that note was implemented here last Tuesday to solve that issue 😉

may I suggest you upgrade your saplogon to 7.30 (latest patch), that will solve some other issues as well...
