I did a full update of data into an ODS object as instructed by the best practice manual for my scenario.
If I understand correctly, this now stops me from initializing the delta process?
As I want the ODS to be updated every day, I have deleted the initial request from the ODS and the InfoCube which the ODS updates.
However, when I now try to create an InfoPackage to initialize the delta process I receive a message telling me to delete the initial request first. There is no initial request any more!
Do you know where else the initial request might be?
Also, after I have run the delta initialization, presumably I schedule the same infopackage to run every night?
Hi,
May be some where you had started delta initialization. So check in Infopackage> Schedilar(menu option)>Initilazation option for source system. And delete the row , if there is any.

OK. I have got the Full/Delta sorted for the transaction data.
How do you update the master data?
I did full loads for those as well as per the BP document. Should I have done deltas for those too?

Problem is I have now run the delta once and deleted the data. Is there anyway of rerunning the delta and bringing up the initial load of records again?

Hi,
Problem is I have now run the delta once and deleted the data. Is there anyway of rerunning the delta and bringing up the initial load of records again?
If you are using PSA in the data flow, you can do reconstruction(reload) of delta initialization data to cube. For this you should have delta initialization information at infopackge.

Sorry. Took a long time to write the last reply so I missed all of yours.
Is this right:
1. Create an InfoPackage for Delta Initialization with a data transfer.
2. After that has completed, schedule the same InfoPackage to run every day.

At the end of this, how many infopackages will i have for my infosource?
one for the initial load and one for the delta initialization?
Do I then schedule the delta initialization to run every night?

Hi Stuart,
For doing the delta load everyday you can use a process chain.
If it is just the infopackage scheduling that you wnat to do then go to Infopackage -> Scheduler -> Scheduling option -> give the date and time and select the periodic job check box and select the "everyday" option. save the scheduling option. Schedule the infopackage. There would be a job created. Just check if it is in the released state. The job would get triggered everyday at the time you have mentioned.

Stuart,
Yes you are right you cann;t go for init load when u ahve full load in ODS. IF at all you want to do delta load after full load then u will ahve first repair the full load.
In your case i guess you only have old init done thus not able to another init load. Thus go for deleting the way Dinesh mentioned.

Hi Stuart,
To delete your initial request Go to Infopackage -> Scheduler(menu) -> Delete Initalization request.
You can use the same infopackage for the delta load. But it is always better to create a new one for delta (ca ne easily distinguished).

So, I had inadvertently already run the delta initialization and had to delete the queue from my source system using RSA7. Sorted!
The delta process is now initialised and I have data in my ODS.
How do I schedule it to run every night?

Hi Stuart,
To schedule this to run every night you will have to do this from scheduling tab (Infopackage => Schedule) of the infopackage.
For the delta loads, you need to specify this while triggering the delta init as you can not specify anything in the delta loads afterwards.
1. Do the settings in the schedule tab of the delta init ipak.
2. Run the delta init. Once run is over the delta radio button(update tab) can be clicked or create a new ipak and set this button to run for delta.

Raj
