General Information Question on ST22 and SM13

Hello

I am just curious about something I have noticed and never have seen before and hoping that someone has a generic answer to the weird behavior I encountered within SAP.

Here is the situation that happened.

Created an Equipment Master on a certain material.  Saved.  The system provides me the the equipment number.  I go to the display/change mode and enter the equipment number.  The entry states it does not exist.  I looked in ST22, did not see any ABAP dump anywhere.  I went to SM13, there I see my error. I was troubleshooting this so I was creating different records and getting the same results throughout..this went on for two days...so there were many entries in SM13 that were errors but nothing was in ST22.  Then all of a sudden today the ST22 started showing all these same entries.... My question is why for two days it was not showing in ST22 and only in SM13 and then it started showing them in both places all of a sudden.  I found this quirky and wanted to see if anyone can shed some light on to why this happened this way.

BTW the issue was the external Oracle database but that was fixed after the entries showed up in the transaction ST22.

It depends on the error occured. Try to check the root cause of error for updates not generated dumps and those which generate. Short dumps are not always available. For example, no short dump is created if an update function module is terminated with the ABAP instruction MESSAGE TYPE A.

For more info please read Analyzing and Correcting Update Errors.
