Slight variation in Analysis for Office values across multiple report runs

Hi all,

We are encountering a situation where an Analysis for Office (Excel) report has been run multiple times, but key figures are not always being returned identical. The variation is by a maximum of 0.02, and this only happens on a few rows.

  • The same report has been run with the same filters by the same user.
  • The A4O report is built on a Bex query, built on BW 7.3 InfoCube running on HANA 1 SPS10 database.
  • The report has 1500+ rows returned with a maximum of 10 inconsistent records. Theserecords are not always inconsistent and not always the same.
  • No data has been loaded between report runs.

Any assistance in getting to the bottom of this would be a great help.

Thanks.

Does this issue occur only with A4O? E.g., have you have executed via RSRT and compared results? Are the query results cached? And lastly, Restricted KF, Calculated KF or base KF - and what are the display settings on the KF (e.g., how many decimals etc)?

Sorry for the delay in replying - it could be a patch issue on the BW 730 side - see https://launchpad.support.sap.com/#/notes/1753511/E

Which version of Analysis Office are you running?

    Thanks both for your replies.

Byrne - I've tried to replicate the problem in BEx web and RSRT but can only return the same values found in the cube. They are regular key figures and rounded to 2 decimal places when loading into BW. They are then displayed to 2 decimal places in the report. In terms of caching, there is none on the server side, but unsure how it works on the client / excel side....

Tammy - Apologies, we are actually on 7.4 so if that note is the problem, there doesn't appear to be a proposed fix.
