Hello MM Experts,

I have an issue where more than 1000 IDOCs stuck with status 51 with the following error for only one partner,

There is no article description for item 000001

Message no. VG205

I would also like to know what is an ARTICLE with reference to SAP? How can I resolve this error?

I have also referred few threads related to this issue and find the below thread is close to my issue,

http://scn.sap.com/thread/1936837

But unfortunately when I check my problematic IDOC I couldn’t able to get PO # or SO # or material hence I need experts help with your valuable inputs.

I am also sure this Basic type - ORDERS05 which is trying to create a sale order where I got the subjected error.

Cheers,

Kumar.S

Since this is a more recent post regarding the error - 'There's no article description for item' in ORDERS04 IDOC(inbound to ECC), I wanted to suggest a solution, which worked for me.

- If you are using segment - E1EDP02 for Material, then replace it with E1EDP19. E1EDP19 is a child of E1EDP01 and will carry the MATNR to the input function module - IDOC_INPUT_ORDCHG, where the error - VG205 - There's no article description for item is generated.

Thanks

what is the qualitfier value?

is it an inbound or outbound IDOC?

Are there any other fields with values in that segment?

QUALF - 001

There are no other fields with values in the segment E1EDP19

what is your process, what is the IDOC supposed to do?

do you need a material number, or is it just a text item?

if you compare this IDOC with an  posted IDOC from a different partner  (you can find them in BD87) what is the difference betweem those 2 IDOCs?

This inbound idoc is creating a sale order and when we check in BD87 there is no partner idoc observed for the problematic one.

what do you mean by partner idoc?  if you actually look at a this faulty IDOC, then you should find this IDOC in BD87.

And as you said this problem is only specific to a certain partner, then this gives me the impression that you have this kind of IDOCs for other partner which work well. So those can be found in BD87 too.

I mean partner IDOC is which i am getting in BD87 (Outbound IDOC).Yes we observe this issue is only for a specified partner.

I also compare the sucessfull IDOC with problematci IDOC and came to know that

IDTNR  is missing hence i suggest in my case sale orders are not getting created.

Your suggestion on this please.

IDTNR is the material number, I think it is mandatory to have a material number
