Hi,

When I login to portal, its taking very long time aroud 30 to 50 sec  to open, but same log in is happening within a fraction of second in Chrome.

We have installed our portal server on VM machine

What could be the reason?

Hi,

That is very hard to say without doing some investigation. I would suggest that you use the developer tools in IE (F12) and trace the network traffic and see if it gives you any clues into what is running slowly.

Also check that the zoom setting in IE is set to 100%

Also if you have IE8, check Tools->Developer Tools->Browser Mode,use IE8 instead of IE8 compatibilty.

Hi,

What IE are you using?

As Simon suggested you need to open some http sniffer (with DEV Toolbat of IE, or HTTPWatch or Fiddler) and see what takes most of the time.

can you attach it here?

Does it happen even with a user that has only 1 empty role? specific theme?

Thanks,

Tal

I am seeing similar behaviour. We are running 7.3 EHP1 SP04. The behaviour is visible in both IE and Firefox, but NOT Chrome.

httpwatch shows certain activities are really slow, but actually it is 100% cpu usage on the client PC which is what is slowing it down.

Chrome completes (eg) content admin screen in 1 second, and Firefox and IE 9 take 1-2 minutes using 100% cpu for all that time.

Only some screens display the behaviour, rather than all.

I have a call open with SAP and will post results if / when I get them.

They will undoubtedly ask me to do up to the very highest patches shortly.

I've checked the display is set to 100% rather than 125% (which I saw mentioned in another post)

This occurs in Windows 7, Windows Vista and Windows 8 with IE and firefox

Hi,

Do you have any specific content on your first landing page?

any specific theme?

what about some plugins you may have?

Try opening the portal with 1 empty role, and with default framework page.

On my logon page I have a page which is actually quite quick - so for me logon is not slow.

However, when I click on the 'Content Admin' page it takes 2 minutes or so to display.

It is clearly dependent upon the content that slows it down, and it is clearly client (i.e. browser) CPU usage that causes the problem. However I don't think it is reasonable that e.g. content admin takes 2 minutes to display on IE and Firefox.

thanks, Andy

Just to make sure: so your IE zoom level is set to 100% as in screenshot (right bottom of IE):

Portal administration isnt supported in browsers other than IE

Is it occurring every time you navigate to Content Admin? or just the first time?

I agree with Tal, be sure to double check your browser zoom settings

We had this problem and drove us nuts!

You are absolutely right, thanks. I honestly thought I had checked the zoom level of the browser, but there it was : 120%...

Reset to 100% using Ctrl-Zero and it all works fine. Oh my word... what great software...

It would be nice to be able to reset the zoom level on the first page of the portal, but at least a quick workaround is great.

Thanks guys, sorry for misinforming you.

Andy.
