Hi All,

Our Production system hard drive is going to be full and  we need to add additional hard drive for further use.

We are using Windows server 2008 and DB is DB2 9.7 with fix pack 5.

Could you  please suggest us  what are activity we need to perform so that all the Data and log file will be on consistence state and DB will write the next data in new hard drive.

Regards,

Pradeep

    Hi,

You should create new drive from the hard disk and move some of your datafile to new drive. You can use db2relocatedb tool to move the datafiles. Please check below link:

    http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/db2luw/v9r5/index.jsp?topic=/com.ibm.db2.luw.admin.cmd.doc/doc/r0004500.html

    Thanks

    Hi ,

Take a backup of the DB before the activity, if possible a File system backup also. Add the disk and create the new datafiles in the newly added drives.Since this is a production Drives should be in Raid and will not be problem in doing so.

      Hi,

Yes, your way will work. If you'r server has internal HDD only and if it has the additional bay to accomodate the new HDD you please fill the bays and use it.
