CUST COPY issues

Dear all,

We did a customize client copy from our production systems.

i.e. PR1-300 to Dev-300.

However, found the PLANT DATA and COST CENTER data missing in our new Dev-300 client.

Also, we did took a backup Dev-500 from our old Dev-300 but unfortunatetly plant related data is missing there too.

Can you please help.

Hi,

Your problem is that plant data and cost centres are Master Data, not customizing.  You would need to inlcude that in your client copy.  However, are you really sure that you want to be copying back from PRD to DEV?  That's not usually recommended.

We need to restore the plant data in IC4-300 what is the best possible way to do this.

Copying from prod to dev is quite common, isn't it? I've never had a problem doing it. There are a few extra things to take into account over copying from prod to QA, for example. Nothing complicated, though.

Plant data is customizing, and should copy with a SAP_CUST client copy profile. Cost Centers are master data, and will only copy with a SAP_ALL copy profile. Chart of accounts data will similarly not copy with SAP_CUST.

When building a new development client I also do a SAP_CUST copy, but then use ALE master data distribution to copy any necessary CO and FI master data.

Since we were suppose to copy only customize client therefore CUST COPY was used.

However, can you please help us how can we get customizing and PLANT & COST CENTER data now?

Just to add more, when we open PLANT data from the new client...data opens however inside data like plant addresses are not copied over with CUST COPY profile.

You could try re-importing the change requests that created the plants originally, if you still have them. Otherwise, you might just have to re-key the missing data.

I'm surprised, though, that not all plant data was copied with the SAP_CUST copy profile. I'm pretty sure I've never had that problem. If you create the data in SPRO and transport it, then it should copy with SAP_CUST. There are some exceptions to that, but plant isn't one of them as far as I am aware.

Data to re-entered will be difficult as there are 1000 plants

And searching transports specifically to PLANTs will contains dependencies for e.g. transport request will contain plant and other data as well. Is there any way to search requests related to plants?

As earlier mentioned, can you provide me steps for ALE, we can also try for FI data?

Also, if there is any standard message related to PLANT data.

Details of how to configure ALE for master data distribution can be found here: . I'm not sure that plant data can be copied this way, though. I'm pretty sure not via MDD, but there may be Idocs for plant data. How you arrange the configuration for the transfer I'm not sure, though. That's stretching my knowledge of ALE and Idocs more that a little!
