Kernel downgrade

Gurus,

I installed kernel 738.  I tried to upgrade SPAM/SAINT from 39 to 47.  I got errors (attached .pdf file).  I then downgraded back to kernel 720.  Now when I go into the Release Notes under SM51, it stills reflects Kernel version 738.  I again tried to upgrade SPAM/SAINT, after downgrading and I got the same error.  Really my question is why doesn't the Release notes reflect the correct version of the kernel?  Is there something else besides putting the executables in the NTAMD64 directory?  I'm using Windows and MS SQL.

Thanks for your help.

Jim

Hi,

Please confirm whether you have  updated the kernel in the following folders.

\usr\sap\SID\DV*\exe

\usr\sap\SID\SYS\exe\run

Please perform the following.

1. Stop all the SAP & DB services.

2. Ensure no SAP or DB services are running.

3. Go to services.msc restart all the SAP & DB related services.

4. Start the DB& SAP and check again.

Sometime, even if you upgrade/downgrade the kernel, we need to restart the services too.

try to use 720 kernel and the latest available patch.

Thanks and Regards,

Vimal

Vimal -

Thanks for your advice.  I did exactly as you suggested before I posted this.  It didn't work.  I couldn't downgrade.  Ultimately I just reinstalled the OS and reinstalled SAP.  This was a DEV system and it was no worries to reinstall.  Then I used the latest 720 kernel and everything was fine.

Hi Jim,

I moved your question to the SAP NetWeaver Administrator space, since it is not releated to the SAP Application Interface Framework (its a tool for implementing and monitoring interfaces).

Best regards,
