Can not set SNC for ABAP eclipse (SNC library missing)

Hello together,

I have newly installed ABAP Trial 7.03 and the ABAP Development Tools for Eclipse. The installation guide requires setting SNC for eclipse. This is giving me the following error. From eclipse I receive a similar error message: can not connect as the SNC library is missing.

It seems there is a library missing with my installation. Anybody else occured that before? Many thanks for solutions in advance.

Hello Markus,

contrary to the documentation you don't need to have SNC enabled on your dev system in order to successfully connect with Eclipse to it.

Kaspar

Hi Kaspar,

thanks for your reply. You are right it works without SCN. This time I could start a project. Funny as I tried before some days without SCN which did not work. In fact I did not change anything. Well anyway it works. Thanks!

I have been looking for this for a while. They should add a disclaimer to the documentation about this. Thank you for the information. I assume that SSO is also not required.

Hi Kaspar,

you are right, we recommend to activate SNC but it is not required. I found one location it is described the wrong way.

Eclipse Help => SAP - ABAP Development User Guide => Security Guide => User Authentication on Front-End Client

Is that the one you refer to?

Regards, Felix

PS: Regarding the issue with the SAP GUI instance you could check the SAP GUI community. Most likely they will ask you upgrade to 7.30 (as far as I know, 7.20 went out of maintenance).

I connected to the SAP back end system using eclipse but when I try to browse repository it gives me an error message and tells me that SNC is disabled. Any clue? My SAPGui setting has IP address.
