Eclipse crashing frequently in Agentry prespective

Hi,

I have started an Agentry Development 6 months back. At that time, the Eclipse with Agentry plugin was reasonably responsive and was crashing rarely.

After having a chunk of definitions created over the time, the crashing of Eclipse is almost inevitable no matter what you do in the IDE. This takes away lot of time from the development plan. Also the publish button when clicked is almost taking around 10 mins to give you the prompt to continue.

Please suggest some ideas to make the Eclipse IDE with Agentry Plugin more responsive and less prone to crashing. This issue is silently reducing the productivity of the developer.

P.S - I have a decent laptop with a Multi-Core CPU and 8 GB of RAM.

Regards

Hi,

unfortunately I can't give you any tips on how to improve the stability of Eclipse + Agentry Plugin, but I can confirm this behaviour.

My colleague and I have made the same experience for more than 6 months now. We have tried several Windows-Versions (Windows 2008 Server, Windows 2013 Server, Windows 7 and Windows 10) with several versions of the Agentry Plugin: The IDE is crashing very often, mostly not reproducable.

Christian

Hi Raymond,

The Agentry Editor plugin that I am using is 70.12.1.11, I have tried the latest one as well. But no luck.

The Eclipse IDE that I am using is Oxygen (4.7) JAVA EE, I have also tried the Juno version which was linked in SAP Agentry plugin installation guide. Again didnt notice any change.

I would recommend using the latest plugin. Officially Juno is the supported version of eclipse but I am running under Neon. While I do have occasional crashes it is by no means very often.

Here are the versions I am running

java version "1.8.0_102"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.8.0_102-b14)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 25.102-b14, mixed mode)

with Eclipse

Eclipse Java EE IDE for Web Developers.
Version: Neon.1a Release (4.6.1)
Build id: 20161007-1200

and Agentry Editor Plugin version 70.14.0.37

Madan,

Quick question: In your experiences with the crashing, I need to know if your PC is a touch screen laptop. We have improve our Editor troubleshooting guides recently to include Windows 10/Touch screen workaround to disable the touch screen feature to see if this works for you or according to our Editor dev team you need a minimum of Editor version SDK SP 13. I am not completely sure if the crashing on your version is tied to this.

I do have some crashing that I experience and have no direct methods to reproduce the issue in my demo environment but with my discussion with the Editor dev team they claim that SDK SP 13 is where they think they have improved it the most for stability - especially if you have touch screen laptops. Or you can disable it - refer to our Editor FAQ page or landing page:

https://launchpad.support.sap.com/#/notes/1816713 (this is the cheat sheet for Editor) but this is the direct link to the touch screen (part of the cheat sheet):

https://launchpad.support.sap.com/#/notes/2410697

Hope this works.

Mark,

Sorry for the delay

My work station is not a touch screen enabled system.

Let me test the plugin that you suggested

I will share my experience after using the Editor in SDK SP 13
