NWDS project created with small Portal com, How to upload the Par

Hi,

Using NWDS I have created the exercise( my first Portal Application) for the online training course TEPD10

I was able to successfully able to create the Par file after defining the system parameter etc carefully. However when I select the project in the NWDS and from the context menu( Right click) select the 'Quick Par Upload' I receive the error message as ' Connection refused to XYZ server'.

Can any body help me as how to get this PAR file imported into the portal and test it from there. I have already tested the PAR file SUCCESSFULLY from the NWDS using the dist menu> PORTAL-INF> portalapp.xml.

2> Also, We have installed the 6.0PDK as the Business package. Can anybody let me know as how to find some webdynpro example from it and test it successfully by creating some iviews from it?

Hi George,

I could upload the file through the menu as suggested by you, However Not sure as how to check whether it really got uploaded and how to create an iview out of it and test it through the Portal, Need help again.

Hi,

Once u have uploaded a the par file, u can create i views based on it. Go to Contant admin>>Portal contants. Go to the folder where u need ur iviews. Right click on the folder u will get options like New , new form par etc.

Select new from par, then the list of par files uploaded will be displayed. choose u r project name >> click next >> choose the name of the component.

Give name and Id for the iview, thats it. You can preview the iview in the PCD it self.

You can view the uploaded par files from System administration-Portal runtime-Deployment Overview.

and then you will find a link "click here"which displays the components.

As mentioned above PDK is for Portal deployment.

Hi,

To upload a par file to the server with out NWDS you have to open the server. Go to System Admin>> Support>> Portal Run time>> Admin Console.. from there u can upload the par file directly into the server.

PDK is for portal development. You cannot webdynpro components using it. For that you have to use NWDS.

Instead of Quick par upload try with export. then you will get two options .tick both. You will have to give the password of the server here.

just give it a try.
