Documentary Batch is not coming while doing Quality Inspection

Dear All,

we are planning to introduce the feature of documentary batches for our client. i am facing a scenario where the goods is received and the stock is in quality inspection. during GR, a documentary batch is assigned with the material.

now during quality inspection, some material qty is rejected and returned to vendor via movement type 122. In this material document, the documentary batch is not reflecting.

whereas in another scenario, i do goods receipt, taking the stock in unrestricted, and then i  return some qty to vendor via movement type 122 with transaction MIGO, there in that material document documentary batch no is coming.

kindly suggest.

Regards,

Hi Jurgen,

i have read the OSS note that you have provided. the note is concerned about MIGO with Documentary batches, return delivery and cancellation. i want to know whether these corrections will be applied at quality inspection level also. documentary batches are reflecting in our system when we are cancelling/returning the material via transaction MIGO.

it is only not reflecting when we are doing quality inspection from tcode QA11 and returning the materials via this route.

I have not seen any written word about quality inspection and documentary batches.

quality inspection is not listed in the activities for documentary batches in help.sap.com

Why don't you use the normal batch management if you need it for quality inspection too.

Apparently for some materials business is not willing to use the normal batch management feature. they only intend to generate a batch number without maintaining the stock at batch level. so i proposed documentary batch for such materials. it is working perfectly for all scenarios except this case where material is returned to vendor via quality inspection.

Try talking to SAP, I have seen several notes providing new programs to close gaps of missing functionality.

Yes had raised an OSS call. SAP confirmed that doc. batches will not come in quality inspection. the workaround can be to put the stock into blocked stock during QA11 and return the delivery to vendor referencing this material document in MIGO transaction.
