Hi Ambichan,

All connectors ( including Jco ) are available free of cost to SAP customers and partners. You can just download it from service marketplace and use whereever required.

hey sanjeev,

thanks for your reply.

yes i know its free download. but i have went thru

below documents

http://www.sapgenie.com/faq/jco.htm#q17

and found faq questions like this..

<b>Do I need a runtime license for running an application that uses the SAP JCo?

The runtime does not require any immediate license fees. However, please note that each user accessing application functionality through the SAP JCo is required to be licensed under a respective solution or component license.</b>

what does it mean. my friend too working in jco says that

license is required to have distributed application case.

so pls suggest me if any ways are there to get license key ...for using java with sap.

Hi Ambichan,

the end users need to have a license to the backend system they are accessing with JCo. So if the user is accessing R/3 with JCo, s/he needs a valid R/3 user license. If the user is accessing BW with JCo, s/he needs a valid BW user license etc.

For the backend system license questions, please contact your local SAP sales representative.

Hope this helps,

hai mikko san,

Thanks for your reply.

So you mean if the user is accessing R/3 with jco he needs a valid R3 user license(which means R3 developer key?)

pls tell me where and how to get R/3 user license.

Ps. I guess Backend system license is different from

R/3 user license ..pls correct me if i am wrong.

Hi Ambichan,

Mikki is right. When you connect to SAO using Jco, you use a user id and password for connecting. This user will require a license for using SAP like any other user who logs on to SAP using GUI. There is a diffrent kind of license ( called internet user license ), that you can use. But in any case you need to talk to you SAP contact for the getting user license.

hai sanjeev,

thanks for your reply.

one confirmation.

I have my SAP logon user id and password. cant i used this uid and pwd for connecting jco and r3.?

Should i have to get Internet user license specially for connecting R/3 and Jco..pls confirm this point.

if so thats the one i want to know how to get this.

if i just say i want to contact SAP contact to get this license..then its not making sense to my company. so pls

be specific how to get license using either site or thru oss or service market place etc?

Hi Ambichan,

yes you can use your own SAP user id and password if you are the person who is accessing the system. If you would like to use your ID for making a user pool you'd still have to pay SAP for the amount of licenses needed in the normal case.

I don't personally know about the Internet vs. standard user licenses, please confirm the pricing of these from your local SAP contact.

For licenses, you can also go to service.sap.com/licensekey

Hope this helps, please award points if you find the answers helpful.
