Is it a good idea to do a SAP certification without having domain/business experience experience..?

Hello Everyone,

I want to enter into SAP. So I am planning to join a Genovate institute for SAP certification in SD module . I am a Btech Computer science from COEP Pune. I want to go for functional SD module in SAP.

But i have 2 years of experience in Resource management field which is not related to sales and distribution but involves core knowledge of the company like how company works, billing, invoicing and fulfilling customers requirement with the technical resources.

I have taken few months leave from my company.

SO may questions is..

Is it a good idea to join the course and take certification ..?

Is it imp that i should be currently working..? becoz i am on leave
