Roles assigned/position to SAP IDM

Hi all,

does anyone know or can advice or even point me to the right direction of how

How  are the roles assigned to positions which can be assigned in IDM ?

Kevin,

Basically you just map your Role model into IDM.

Usually I've seen this done via spreadsheet, where the Enterprise (IDM) Role is defined along with the owners, approvers, child roles, parent roles and Privileges (security roles) are defined.

Note the mandatory items are the name of the role and the associated privileges using the IDM unique ID (PRIV:...) Note that these objects will not be in IDM until you configure the initial loads on each system.

Dear Matt,

In continuation to your above response, how IDM would come to know which Position is mapped to which role or backend privilege.

Does this spread sheet’s information need to be uploaded in IDM as repository or is there any way.

I've usually just seen a spreadsheet that is maintained showing the role, owner, approvers and associated privilieges.

This is then saved in a CSV file and loaded into IDM via a job. 

After this is done, the IDM Web UI is used to match the users up to the roles.
