Hi

The stars denote the characters . The Employee subgroup groupings  for personnel calculation rules

are single charactered so you either maintain a group like 1 ,2 , 3 etc or anything so a single star.

The wage types/time types  are four charactered and can be like 1000,1001 or **** (any value) . Any PCR logic will work on this two points of distinction .

Please award points if answer is useful.

Thanks

Hi Lakshmi,

Thank's for quick responce i want to know as you said that single * is for employee subgroup groupin

or like 1,2,3........etc.It is ok my question is if Employee subgroup grouping is of 2 character like

As mentioned by Woody and Addu, every PCR is defined according to Employee Sub Group and Wage Type, the ESG being one character and the WT being four characters.  So, when you have a PCR for ESG * and WT ****, it means that it is for all ESGs and all WTs.

On the other hand, the symbol * can also be used as a return value.  For example, for operation CMPER 1301 (compare with Pay Period 01 of 2013), the return values would be =, > or <, but return value * could be used to mean any other (as in a PCR that will have return values < and * to operation CMPER 1301).  Using the same logic, one of the return values for operation OUTWPPLANT could be ****.

Hi Addu!

Your question is really basic

* -> Employee subgroup grouping for personnel calculation rules

**** -> Wage/time type

The wage/time type is used in conjunction with the employee subgroup grouping for personnel calculation rules to define the wage type and/or time type and the employees for whom the personnel calculation rule is to be processed during payroll accounting or time evaluation.

if you keep * and **** it means your PCR will process for all ESG and all Wage Type/ Time Type. Other while it only executes for specific ESG and Wage/Time Type.

Configuration to grouping ESG for PCR, you can follow link in SPRO:

Personnel Management
Personnel Administration

Basic Pay
Define EE Subgroup Grouping for PCR and Coll.Agrmt.Prov.

btw: look at my blog for me useful link: including link to understand SCHEMA
