How to license DB2 Everyplace?

Hi SDN Usersn,

I've installed ME 2.1 SP 03 and also want to use DB2 Everyplace. I've opened http://service.sap.com/swcenter-3pmain as described in Note 677476. But i got the message "no Data avaliabe" when I click the Download-Link to DB2 Everyplace V8.2 for ME2.1 and MI 2.5. I think we don't have a valid license. How do I get it?

Regards

Gregor

Hello Anubhav,

I've managed to start and sync MSA HH for CRM today without having installed the db2e. What will be the benefints of installing the DB? Where is that described in the Guides?

Hello Anubhav,

I've asked SAP via an OSS Note where I can get the license. Their answer was to contact our SAP Sales Rep.

hi,

MI provide support for both MOFS(Multi object file storage) and db. Now let me explain.

1. before u start any appliaction u need three things.

Model, view and controller. Model is wat is critical here.

2. MI has some API's for accessing db using jdbc which are wrappers, but to use them u have to install Db components in terms of jars and dlls.

3.so therotically MI should be model agnostic, a layer of abstraction is there, but practically its coupled.

hope this clears ur doubt.

Hi all,

Can someone clear this to me? In the installation guide says that if you want to have data persistence on the device you NEED (MUST...?) have a DB. Is this true? or the MI automatically uses files for storage when a DB is not available?

About the MI recognizing automatically the DB: In the Installation Guide says that you need to install the DB before synchronizing the MI client for the first time, and if you have applications you must delete them and reinstall them. Of course I don´t know this from first hand its what it says in the guide.

Thanks

Hi,

Hmmm.Good question.

Support for db2e or file storage is always provided by framework which is MI.

MSAHH has different flavours or versions that Gel with this framework.

So a particular version supports one type of storage.

hi,

MSA as an application and MI in general provide support for both Multi object file storage and benefit.

The advantage of using db2e are as follows:

1. Gets the relational data modelling benefit. Quering becomes easy with lots of functionalities.

2. Large data volumes are supported with inherent caching by database, so we need not worry bout caching.

3. Clean approach for shared and seperated visibility.

There are many more...........

Hello Anubhav,

hopefully my last question: Will MSA HH recognize automatically the availability of db2e?
