Hierarchy Nodes not adding up.

Former Member

in my report, one of the heirarchy nodes is not adding up correctly with the values from its sub-devisions. For example, the field selling value for my top node should be the sum of all the field selling values of its sub-devisions (dont know if i'm using the correct term, but hope u understand). What could be the reason for this. Let me know if you need more info.

Thanks

Fran

Hi Fran,

Check if there is a value with the top node. See this link for an example of the same. Scroll down to Presentation Hierarchy > Values of POsted Nodes:

Hope this helps...

If you see the link that I sent, there is an example of this situation. eg:

N1 100

-NA 30

-NB 40

-NC 20

Here the numbers do not add up, reason being that N1 carries a value of 10, which is not shown by default.

Hope this helps...

you are right. i get the concept now. But in one of the cases in my report....the value that should be added up is actually less than that of one of its subordinates. What could be the reason for that???

thanks

Could there be a negative value with the top node then?

Thats what I thought initially, but i dont think so because the KF is for headcount of employees. And this is for planning data (I think coming from SEM). So i dont know if they could use negative numbers for headcount.

Any thoughts?

thanks

How do the numbers look if you turn off the hierarchy in the report?

Fran,

This could be one of the possible reasons. Did you check authorizations for ur user ID?

Your user ID might have been restricted to see only certain nodes under a node. Check the user profile to see this is the case. You can check this if you authorizations for RSSM, else talk to ur security people.

Or test with a userID, which doesn't have any restrictions for that hierarchy.
