Dear All,

We want to Install SAP BI Server in windows server 2008 r2 and database will be DB2 9.7.

As I am not able to find specific media and Installation guides in SMP.

Can anyone please help me out or send me some useful links for the same.

As we have Netweaver 7.0 EHP2 with us.Can you please tell me shall I install Netweaver 7.02 and after that install BI Cont.I want to know how to activate BW Client?

Are there any specific procedures to activate BW Client?

Please help me out.

   You need to install Netweaver system and put BI_CONT as the add-on .

Thanks for the reply. I want to know as there will be two instances in Netweaver System like AS

ABAP and AS JAVA.

Then I have to put BI_CONT in AS JAVA System.Am i ryt?

Hi,

   Not required.   If you put in ABAP using SAINT, it is enough.

Are you going to use ABAP stack or both ABAP + JAVA?

Hi,

If you requirement is portal , you can use JAVA stack.. If not, you can go ahead with ABAP alone.

If you ask me, I would say you can go ahead with Netweaver 7.3 with ABAP as well as JAVA. If so, BW consultants can use the maximum functionality.

I would always suggest you to go for latest software. Instead of downloading netweaver 7.0 EHP2 you can install NEtweaver 7.3 which is the latest one now.

Hi Maria,

As per our requirement Our SRM 7.0 system will have to communicate with BI Server.

So as per my knowledge AS JAVA is needed for BI Server.

Please suggest.

Hi,

Yes. As said earlier, please use Netweaver 7.3 and install both ABAP & JAVA stacks. You can use JAVA along with ABAP as well as integreate it with other systems like SRM ,CRM also.
