BW Security Question

Is your BW production client open or closed? Our system is open, meaning we can make changes in prod. (I know it's not a good idea) If it is closed how do you do the following without creating transports:

1)reactivate objects

2)make process chain scheduling changes

3)make adhoc infopackage changes

4)etc....

It is a good practice to close the system:

What do you mean by "reativate objects"?

To change Process Chains, InfoPackages go in RSA1 -> Trasport connection -> Object Changeability and switch to "everyting changeable"

Hope it helps

There are times when I need to reactivate Communication structures, ODS's, InfoCubes, and Update rules etc... eventhough I didn't make direct change it was necessary to sync the timestamps, but when I reactivated them a transport was created. I want to avoid the transport creation.

PS. Thanks for the info on "object changeability" it's pointing me in the right direction.

Hi Henry,

about InfoSources (to be more precise Transfer Rules) see Note 324520 about Program RS_TRANSTRU_ACTIVATE_ALL: it'very helpfull.

About ODS and IC re-activation, I'm suspicious: did you found the cause that leads to re-activation?

Hope it helps

I had to reactivate one of them because the data was being loaded from the ODS to the cube. When the ODS was changed it through the timestamps out of sink.

Thanks for all the help!!! You get the PRIZE!!!
