EP6SP2 Install Portal sapinstgui

Hi

I'm trying to install EP6SP2 on Win2000 with MS SQL 2000 and am getting a problem trying to install the portal via SAPinst. The welcome screen appears and notifies that files have been written to a temp directory. On clicking OK the application closes without allowing any install parameters to be selected. The instgui.log indicates that it could not connect to port 21213 so I have run the suggested command to amend the port number (and several variations!)but the syntax is not recognised....any ideas
