File Adapter - FTP or NFS to be used

Former Member

Hi All,

In our interfacing scenario most of the cases we have a file as an inbound/outbound scenario. Will be of gr8 help if any of you can provide some input which protocol we'll have to use in terms of performance. We have to decide on the same.

If we are using FTP secure FTP we wont be able to do. If its NFS we'll have to mount the drive where these files are to be picked/put in.

In terms of memory and performance - max size of the file, memory usage in the system where this FTP/NFS drive is attached, etc if anyone can throw some good info/doc will be of a gr8 help.

Also whats SAP recommendation in the above case??? Cant find anything is SDN/help.sap.com

Cheers

JK

Hello Jayakrishnan,

please refer to note 821267, question #14.

Starting with SP13 the File Adapter also supports FTPS (FTP over SSL/TLS).

Hi JK,

As far as the performance is concerned both would stand on the same line, its mainly based on the size of the file but not on the protocol you are using. Well coming to decision of using the type of protocol, it dependes on the resources available in your hand. In your case NFS would serve the purpose.
