Hi Experts
Platform:
SAP BW 7.01 SP7
SAP BO BI 4.0 SP5
I get the following error when creating a connection to a Multi Provider and a Cube
Cube.get.dimensions.info.runtime.error,
AMEND BRAIN 122)! 0TCAIFAREA is not a valid characteristic for Info provider –
I am able to connect to the BQ queries on the multi provider/cube but not the provider itself.
I have added RFC_NAME = RASB to my BW 7.01 authorizations.
I look forward to you suggestions

Hi,
0TCAIFAREA is a technical InfoObject in the area of BW Analysis Authorizations, which needs to be active for the system to run properly. Can you please check, whether the InfoObject is active? You can do this (and activate if needed) via transaction rsd1 or use transaction RSTCO_ADMIN for checking and installing the technical content.
Also you can try to run in RSRT the query in the following format: InfoProviderName/!!AInfoProviderName
Please also check, whether you have authorizations to run this special Query with the technical name !!AInfoProviderName
I would assume, that this will also fail on your system. If you cannot solve with the hints above, you should open a CSS ticket for this issue.
I do not think, that this is a problem in BI4, but rather a system or authorization issue in your BW backend.

I am not experiencing this; I just tried it
I am on BI4 SP05 patch 2
Also, is there a reason you are connecting to the InfoProvider and not the BEx Query? Best practices from SAP say you should always connect to the BEx Query, where possible.

Tammy
