I have a question: can I use the new Crystal Reports developer edition for Microsoft Visual Studio with Visual Studio 2012 Express for Desktop edition (the free version) or I have to purchase the Professional Edition? Thanks

No, Microsoft does not support plug-ins in any of the Express versions. CR Developer for Visual Studio is a Plug-in.
