Rendering Issues with Cross-Tab Vertical Lines and Line Spacing When Exporting to PDF

I have a cross-tab on my report that has two summarized fields that supply the values for each column. There are three columns on this cross-tab. In order to create a separator line between the summarized fields for each column, I added a background color to the column, then formatted the background color for the column and the summarized field objects by overriding the color to white. I'm left with the background color showing through between the two summarized fields, which works perfectly.

However, when I export the report to PDF (either locally on my desktop or from within Business Objects), the lines between the summarized fields do not display by default. If I zoom in to 200%, the lines appear, but they are otherwise not visible. Is there a way to allow the lines to display regardless of the zoom level? I'd prefer not to set a border color on the column or summarized field objects because the default border color line is larger than the default hairline that I'm using for cross-tab lines.

Also, I've added line spacing to cross-tab objects that have a single line of text by right-clicking the object, clicking Format Text/Field/Object, and navigating to the Paragraph tab. In the Spacing section, I change the Line Spacing dropdown to Exact and add a value to the Of: times normal field. The effect of this on a single line of text in Crystal Reports is that the single line of text will push the text down from the top, effectively centering the text vertically within the object.

Again, when I export to PDF, this effect does not persist. Is there a way to force the spacing to be used?
