Regarding Number range

hi SAP Experts,

While setting number range for material master i am not able to see GROUP & GROUPS tabs on the screen, this is happening in my SANDBOX client, is there any configurational activity required to get these tabs on the screen, i am not able to assign external number ranges due to this.

Check SNRO for object MATERIALNR, Check fields for External number range NUMKE is maintained or not for Group specification

This is technical issue only, check with basis, authorizations are given or not.

Are your user ID authorised to maintaion the number range for material master! Cross check with Basis Consultant.

Have you check in MMNR transaction? Can you post the Screenshot.

Just try to insert the number range interval (Go to Insert) and check what happens. you may also check the authorization in SU53 transaction.

I didnt understand what do you mean by External number range? When you insert interval you have two rows for number ranges one with external check box and one without check box. You need to maintain number range as per your requirement.

Also in MMNR initial screen can you click on Overview icon and check whether you are able to see the groups.

Hi Ashok,

my requirement is to have a 9 digit external number(100000000-999999999) for my all Z- material types, i created a interval (01) and assigned external number as shown in the screen shot, but i cannot assign it to material types as i am not able to see the group tab.

Is there any other way of assigning the exteral number, please tell me.

Yes, check the authorization for your user id.

Can you please tell me what type of authorization i would be requiring, as my BASIS person is saying, i have all authorisation

You can compare the authorization with your user id in other clients like Golden or pretest where you  everything is ok. Also check the SCC4 settings as well.

It would be difficult for anyone to suspect the exact authorization object needed here in this case.

can it be possible, that because i have some materials already created with internal number range & now i have deleted that number range & incorporated a new external number range, because which system is not showing me the Group & Groups tab.

Can you check with other user id or check with basis user id whether Groups are visible in MMNR transaction. If yes, then there must be something missing from basis end.

Go to MMNR and in Menu - Group- Display group and Maintain options are there can you check them whether they are active in your case and working fine.
