Hi,

This is to bring to the notice of administrators, if you are locking the discussion, please let us know, what is the reason you are locking.

for example https://scn.sap.com/thread/3291898

In this scenario I wanted to learn how abaper will proceed, but before I get any further information, just you locked it.

SAP SDN Forum is a knowledge sharing forum, not the point earning and boasting once authority. A newbee has to learn, even the most experienced guy can learn or share his knowledge.

Please "LET US LEARN AND SHARE OUR KNOWLEDGE".

Regards,

Venkat

If there is a question about a locked thread, then please open a discussion in 'About SCN', not in the functional forum. Also you might want to check the similar questions posted there before.

'Rules of Engagement' apply to everyone. One of the first requirements is to search before posting. Research and analysis are vital skills for any SAP professional, so by encouraging basic and repetitive questions we would actually be doing disservice to our colleagues and community as a whole. I'm sure everyone heard this famous quote: "Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach a man to fish and he will eat for a lifetime."

Hi All,

This has happened to me as well. One of my post which wasnt a basic query was blocked and the reason for it remained unknown. Later when I raised my concern through another post, I was given the same reply that moderators cannot record their views in each and every thread. Below is the history of the same.

http://scn.sap.com/thread/3258475

We accept that moderators cannot do it for each and every thread but it should be certainly done for the ones which are being blocked by the moderators. When time is there for reading each post, then time to record the views before blocking should also be there. Moreover, the same thing can get repeated and same sorts of concerns would get raised again when contents get blocked without reasons.

Moderators, hope our concerns and views are taken and addressed.

Regards

Vasanth

Dear Venkatt

I don't know why the discussion has been locked. Let some moderator comment on it. But I do agree that there are many posts, discussions that has been locked or rejected without intimating the reason which is not a good practice and SCN team should look into it.

Thanks

As many of the times, it is being pointed out that it is highly impossible for Moderators to record their views in each and every thread/discussion and in this connection,

Further, your query was related to adding field to field catalog. In addition, to that your query was too generic.

If you Google with following search term site:scn.sap.com add field to field catalog.

Check how many results to get? The results will indicate, why that can be regarded as repetitive and got locked.

Further, if this query was from ABAPer point of view. You should have raised the issue in ABAP related forum.

Thanks, JP

Dear Mr. Jyoti Prakash

Thanks for giving your feedback but my concern is this that being moderator you should understand and analyze the mental level of OP. If he is beginner and asking for help regarding ABAP then I think you should move the post from SD to ABAP forum rather to block it without mentioning reason. Further more below comment by Vasanth is also valid that if Moderators have time to read all posts then he can atleast mention reason in one word e.g "Basic Query" or "Repetitive Query" or "Copy pasted" etc. Or 2nd option is as Lakshamipathi told us many times that he had suggested SCN team to give some drop down or pop up message to select while rejecting some thread with most common reasons.

Side Comments: Dear Moderators! Please take this as request and understand the level off all members of this forum. I hope you understand me and my concern.

Thanks

Please take this as request and understand the level off all members of this forum. I hope you understand me and my concern.

Definitely I understood your concern MoazzaM and just to update you, I once again took this issue in Moderators forum on populating auto text so that Moderators can select the appropriate thread before locking a thread.

Dear Sir

Thanks for understanding my point and thanks for taking this issue to SCN team once again. You are doing great on SD forums. But please can you put some light on other part of my post i.e moving that thread from SD to ABAP forum was a good option rather to block. It happened with me once when I asked a question regarding transportation management and I didn't get any solution from SD forum. Then I asked here should I post this question on MM forum and I got reply yes you can ask on MM forum and I put a new thread there with same content. Please check below links.

http://scn.sap.com/thread/3255966

http://scn.sap.com/thread/3257569

I got my solution some how from MM forum but I got message from MM moderator that this is against SCN rules to post two questions with same content on different forums. I told him that I asked on SD forum but didn't get reply then I posted new thread on MM but he said don't do this and ask some moderator to move this thread from one forum to anther.

Please give your valuable remarks on this.

Thanks

Normally I move a thread to another forum unless and until it is not at all related to the forum where it has been posted.  But the thread you were referring is DEFINITELY a repetitive one and should be locked.  As already JP has said, just type the text in Google and I could see more than 10 threads discussed on this.

On your another query, as I have been mentioning, yes we act based on certain rules and regulations stipulated for Moderators by SCN team.  Having said this, based on those Rules of Engagement, duplication of any thread is not allowed in SCN and that should be locked.  I have gone through those two threads and to be honest, I also have the same feeling that it should have been posted in MM forum rather in SD forum since the query you posted are more of MM related configurations.

I am happy that atleast, you have updated in SD thread that you go the solution and also provided where the solution is given.
