Hi,

I wanted to create new variable for a query. But I could not find the Maintain Variable in Sap menu..I found only the following.SAP menu->Business Explorer->Analyzer. Is there any procedure to include 'maintain variable' in SAP menu->Business Explorer->.

Please help. I am in learning stage.

Hi Vithul,

As far as my experience goes , we always create new variable in the query definition itself.

Hi Vithul,

We normally create variable for giving the user the flexibility to run reports for specific conditions which can change..

For eg: Lets take Fiscal year..

To create a variable on this drag and drop the fiscal year in the filter area of the query.

Then Right click on Fiscal Year --> Restrict --> Variable tab --> New Variable.

This link ahould explain you the different kind of variable used..

Hope this helps

Hi Vithul,

It looks like you are referring to material of the older BW version. Earlier it was possible to create variables in the BW system as per the menu path you are describing. Now in the BW 3X versions, the functionality has been enhanced to be able to create variables directly in the query (BEx) itself.

In the query you can right click on the char for which you want to create a variable (in the left hand side) and go through the wizard. Please consult the Help link for different options here and post back if you have further questions.

Hope this helps...
