Lead time / notification when employee separates



I have a client demand where they need a mechnism where in an "Notification" should go to supervisors and/or concernd person in recruiting whenever any employee resigns from the organisation. For Ex, Notice period is 2 months. Employee resigns on 1st of June. On the 1st of June itself, a mail should go to supervisors and concern persons so that they can start processing for hiring/replacement finding. This way, the notification helps the HR and supervisor to utilize the two months's time(notice period of the employee resigned) to find a repacement. Is this possible by standard customization or need custom/"Z" program for the same? Please help me.
