Landscape with Kernel 7.20 EXT and 7.00

Hallo.

We have a three system landscape DEV , TST, PRD ECC 6.0 Kernel 7.00 windows 2003

Because kernel 7.00 is no longer maintained, we are planning to upgrade to kernel 7.20 EXT

During the time of the landscape upgrade, can we stay with

DEV kernel 7.20 EXT

TST kernel 7.00

PRD kernel 7.00

without problem on transport etc ?

So can we have a landscape of mixed kernel 7.20 EXT and 7.00 ?

Thanks.

Mario.

Hi Mario,

Hope you are doing good.

Although it is advised that the servers are on the same patch level as possible, this scenario should work and is supported:

DEV kernel 7.20 EXT

TST kernel 7.00

PRD kernel 7.00

The below links will help you if there are any queries with the

kernel update procedure

SAP Note No. 1636252 - Installing a 7.20 kernel in SAP Web AS 7.00/7.01/7.10/7.11

SAP Note No. 1629598 - SAP Kernel 720 will replace older kernel versions

SAP Note No. 19466   - Downloading SAP kernel patches

Thanks.

I use those notes to execute the upgrade.

SPS stack is the same for DEV,TST,PRO, but do you confirm that I can have different kernel on the systems, so for example:

DEV kernel 7.20 EXT

TST kernel 7.00

PRD kernel 7.00

isn't it?

Thanks!

Hi Mario,

Although it is highly recommended that the OS kernel levels are the same, this should not be a problem and we have seen many customers use this kind of configuration.

Kind regards,
