Can we edit a crystal report in Launchpad

Hi all,

One basic question  can we edit a CR2011 in launch pad? The edit option is present for webi reports,however we get only View option for CR in launch pad.

Hi Ash,

You will Never be able to "Edit" a report created in the standard Crystal Reports 2011 designer in BI LaunchPad.

Reports created in Crystal Reports for Enterprise (a new flavour of Crystal Reports) available in BI 4.0 can be edited in BI LaunchPad, however it requires that Crystal Reports for Enterprise is installed on the machine first.

hi Ash,

to add to Abhilash's response, if you're looking to add the ability to have an end user change a report on the fly you would design a report to do so.

i.e. you can parameterize a report so that the end user can change the group (have the report grouped on a formula that is essentially a case / if then else statement)

you can have the report contain a bunch of different formula fields as the columns which are also parameterized to choose the final field displayed.

you can also have sections parameterized to be hidden or shown which can contain crosstabs, or charts. or subreports etc.

here's a sample report that is a dynamic drill down / grouping report that you can see as an example.

After download crystal reports for enterprise is completed, how to edit the report in BI Lanchpad 4.0?

It has to be a report that has been published through Crystal for Enterprise (CRE), which is somewhat different internally than a Crystal 2011 report.  Also, I believe you would have to upgrade your system to BI 4.1 and the latest version of CRE to get the ability to use a data source that is not a universe, BEx query, or Hana connection.

Hi,

Crystal Reports are standard canned reports .. they cannot be edited except using a tool.

You have to loginto BOW to open saved report from CR tool and edit the report.

No.. BI Launchpad.

You can open report from BI Launchpad folder by logging into BO Enterpise credentials.
