Dear All,

We are the process of the Workbook Migration. We have already completed the Query Migration from 3.5 to 7.0.

For some of the Workbooks, we are facing the issue with the color and aspect(width of the columns and rows) changed while opening with 3.5 and 7.0.

Experts please give your useful inputs, so I could resolve the issue.

Thank you in advance.

Regards,

Abhishek Jain

Abhishek,

There are no migration program to automate the workbook migration.

Please follow the below steps -

1. Refresh a 3x workbook using Analyzer 3x

2. Save as global view

3. Open BW 7 Analyzer

4. Open query, files of type: Query View...and choose the name

5. Save workbook in BW 7

6. Delete the view

This method uses the view to convert the workbook.

Hi Geeta,

Thank you for your response.

Could you please elaborate more on the point no. 4 please.

And let me any other things which should be taken care while migration because we tried all the other options like updating the regedit, formatting the WB but the issue not yet solved. If you would give complete steps of the migration that would be really helps.

Hi Abhishek,

I understand from your post that you have migrated few workbooks and facing issues with look and feel of the workbook in 7.x. Only formatting issues.

Well the bad news is formatting will be lost. The look and feel is a main feature that changed with BI 7.

Have a look at the below post. You will have to create on your own. For us this was the most time taking job in the upgrade project.

Few important things you should keep in mind before migration of Workbooks.

1. No matter what process you follow for migration you will face problems when it comes to Macro AKA VBA Code. Due to some functions which don't exist in the new version.

Have a look at the below link for such functions and more details.

http://scn.sap.com/people/prakash.darji/blog/2006/10/10/migrating-advanced-bex-analyzer-workbooks--w...

2. For testing your workbook features in 7.x you should just open the workbook in 7.x analyzer. As long as you don't save it you can still open it in 3.x analyzer so that you can see the original features.

3. I suggest after each migration you close the whole bex analyzer session and re-open for testing. Try to take backup of your 3.x workbooks by saving a copy with a proper naming convention and then migrating the original.

Hi Sujit,

Thanks for your input.

We are facing the formatting issue in the  Workbook migration related to look and feel with the Hierarchy nodes characteristics like Profit Center, Account Number etc. When we expand the Hierarchy nodes Column, the below rows lost the formatting. There is no issue with the remaining columns.

Please let me know if you have any suggestions on this issue.

Hi Abhishek,

Could you please elaborate the formatting loss.

e.g. You have applied a special coloring to your lowest level node. Or you have made it bold at the lowest level. And after upgrade they are not working when you expand your hierarchy.

Hi Abhishek,

Your 3.5 workbook doesn't look like the sap standard formatting.

I guess its your own formatting which is lost.

Not much can be done in this area.

Lets see if experts in this area can help.

Sujit.
